"Lineage," 2025, Intaglio.

The process of intaglio printmaking involves etching into metal, laying the etched plate in an acid bath, rolling ink into the bitten recesses, and then transferring the ink to paper by rolling them through a printing press.

In this case, I used hard ground for fine line work, and Aquatint to create tones akin to a watercolor wash. By stopping out certain areas and letting acid bite the copper section by section, I created the values visible on the final print.

Copper plate after touching up the original hard ground etching (newly etched areas are reflective), and before the Aquatint process.
